The Thane traffic police have issued cards to nearly 35000 autorickshaws so far. The card also have a barcode. Passengers have to download a special smart phone application being developed by the Thane police and scan the barcode of the rickshaw.

The application provides the details of the driver, which gets saved on the phone for a day. “We have become cautious after the Swapnali Lad incident.
